Video compression???

Postby fatherofschmo » Mon Feb 01, 2010 12:01 pm

Anybody got any ideas on what the best compression system to use when source videos come in as .avi? I used quicktime on this video http://www.high-8.com/blog/archives/808 and it was pretty papp. The footage out the camera is nay the best due to it's fixed aperture and 512 x 384 resolution but the compression made it decidedly worse. Any advice would be totally welcomed...

hmmmmm.....

Flash is definitely the best video format for publishing to the web... you can download a convertor easily. Just google 'avi to flv' and you should get a list.

As for compression codec... Try installing DIVX codec. This is pretty good for AVI.

Check this link too, should give you a better idea on what compression to use.

good stuff. Hope you're getting on alright with the footage.

If you've installed DIVX codec, let me know if that helps any.
